Moving on to watercolour this week, we’re trying our hand at urban sketching… no rulers, measuring, or grids allowed!.. It was all about capturing the atmosphere and character of the place and just enjoying the process.

This week we’re going on a tour of London with the iconic Routemaster bus. Continuing with watercolour pencils, we’re concentrating on 2-point perspective and the bright contrast of this vintage red bus against a greyscale background.

Summertime is here!.. and we’re already making waves. We started the season by creating different water textures with watercolour pencils, learning how to turn a drawing into a painting.. magic! Here’s our first week - lots of ripples, waves and droplets.

As our 14-week course comes to an end, it’s the perfect moment to look back at everything that’s been created along the way. From first sketches to beautifully finished pieces, our 350 artworks made a wonderful display.

Every piece reflects the personality and effort behind it, but it’s also the encouragement, shared ideas, and support for one another that make this group so special. And of course, a big thank you to all the family and friends who came along too, it means so much and makes the day even more memorable 

Cheers to a wonderful Spring course… a huge well done to everyone who took part. You’ve made this season one to be proud of!

Lots of fun in class this week! Everyone has been busy adding colourful mounts to their artworks, getting them exhibition-ready for next Thursday. Cakes and scones came next, and entertainment with an art themed pop quiz. Plenty of laughs, and just the right amount of friendly competition! Big cheer for our prize winners👏

With 12 weeks of drawing and painting behind us, we’re going out with a splash!.. have  a look at our amazing alpine waterfalls, all completed and in full flow. What a fabulous finale by everyone!

This week is all about those magical, dappled shadows that appear when sunlight dances through the leaves 🌿☀️ We began with graphite pencils and rubbers, to create light and shadows. Then layered acrylic paint, playing with both contrasting and harmonious colours, just enjoying the painting process.

It’s impasto week!.. that means lots of paint, palette knives, bold textures, scraping, layering, and a fair bit of experimentation. We’ve been busy building up semi-abstract studies of oysters, simply enjoying the creative process… great to see all the individual interpretations of this subject.

We had a bit of a tulip takeover in class this week! Tiptoeing our way through the first week of acrylics.. some have opted for bright and punchy, others soft and painterly. Bloomin Beautiful.!
